Our Mission Statement

The mission of Franciscans for the Poor Volunteer Program is to provide an opportunity for young people and adults to experience a diverse culture, prayers and community living in a simple lifestyle.Franciscans for the Poor is designed to carry out the mission of the Gospel as expressed in the healing ministry of Jesus. Franciscans for the Poor recruits, selects, and places individuals in non-profit agencies giving them the opportunity to bond with others for insight into the causes and effects of poverty and discerning a Franciscan response.

Where will I live while I serve?

Volunteers live a simple lifestyle at Tau Community House, located in St. Bernard, Ohio.

What is life like at Tau House?

Franciscans value simple communal living in which everyone shares in common household chores such as cooking, cleaning and sharing of personal experiences of service that impact personal growth.

Is this program right for me?

If you are interested and willing to share your time and talents while carrying out the mission of the Gospel as expressed by the healing ministry of Jesus, this program is for you!

The Franciscans for the Poor will provide housing and food,
which is simple and shared.

You will recieve an orientation to the Franciscans for the Poor Volunteer Program and placement for your service project.

You will have opportunities to reflect on your experiences and to share and expand your faith through group and individual prayer.

It is our hope that this week will renew your spirit and provide insight and peace for your faith journey.
